Canan Law supports Velo Fest bike valet

St Johns County School Board member, Patrick Canan, founder and President of Patrick T. Canan P.A., has agreed to fully fund the Velo Fest Bike Valet program, according to an announcement received by Historic City News on Friday from Velo Fest Executive Director Heather Neville.

On July 18th, Historic City News reported that St Augustine based Velo Fest Community Initiative, a charitable non-profit organization that promotes awareness of bicycle safety, would volunteer to administer a bike valet program for the upcoming Mumford and Sons Concert. Velo Fest also promotes a healthy lifestyles through cycling activities, environmental enhancements for safe cycling, historical and cultural awareness, and the economic impact that cycling brings communities through tourism.

“Thanks to Canan Law’s generous donation, Velo Fest will make a capital purchase of 1,000 bike parking spots for the bike valet,” Neville told reporters. “We can’t wait to show off our shiny new racks.”

Canan contacted Velo Fest and offered to support the entire bike valet system for the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover. According to Neville, she and her troupe of volunteers are able to make the bike valet a free service to the St Augustine community — during the Mumford and Sons show this September and going forward.

“We had planned on charging a fee for the valet service; but, thanks to Canan Law, we have announced that the valet will be a free service — one that will support us for years to come,” Neville said. “Having this infrastructure, Velo Fest will be able to support many future events in St Augustine.”
