Anne Kraft invited Historic City News readers interested in Community Theater to attend an open house event; introducing “A Classic Theatre” company and its plans for the 8th Season that begins this fall.
A Classic Theatre is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that was founded in 2005 by Jean Rahner; also the co-founder of the Limelight Theatre in St Augustine. Their mission is to foster and encourage audience involvement in the Performing Arts by producing classic, historic, and original theatre works, and to attract, develop and educate audiences in the unique experience available only in exciting and professional live theater.
“Come and learn more about this little gem of a theater company and how you can participate in its future activities and productions,” Kraft encouraged local reporters. “We may be gypsies, but we have a lot of fun doing what we do.”
Kraft was referring to the fact that A Classic Theatre is sometimes called the “gypsy” theater of St Augustine, since they have no permanent theatre building to stage their performances — so the term “open house” will have to be loosely translated to mean somebody else’s house.
The Open House will be held at DOS Coffee & Wine, located at 300 San Marco Avenue at the corner of San Marco Avenue and Vedder Street, courtesy of owner Julie Stoppelli, from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26th. A Cash bar will be available.
Current members of the Board are Jean Rahner, President; Anne Kraft, VP; Anne Curtis, Treasurer; Deborah B. Dickey, Secretary.
Celebrate the new season, and find out what’s in store from these four women who have extensive theater backgrounds and enjoy fostering a wide variety of quality theater productions in and around St Augustine. Learn more about the theatre company at www.aclassictheatre.org
