Thank you from St. Augustine Spanish Garrison

Mark Schmitt, President of Florida Living History, Inc. and the St. Augustine Spanish Garrison, asked Historic City News to convey his organization’s deep appreciation for all of the assistance that was provided at last weekend’s heritage event.

During the inaugural “Battle of Bloody Mose, 270th Anniversary Commemoration”, a new record for one-day attendance at Fort Mose Historic State Park was set. “This Event was an overwhelming success,” Schmitt told Historic City News reporters.

“One hundred white, black, and Native American historical re-enactors and volunteers participated and there was a constant flow of visitors all day through both the Spanish and British camps, as well as through the other 18th-century, living history displays,” Schmitt said. “Feedback was overwhelmingly positive from our visitors and honored guests and all of our volunteers performed admirably, despite the extreme heat.”
