At about 4:30 a.m. this morning, a marina employee called the St. Augustine Fire Department to report smoke coming from the north dock at the St. Augustine Municipal Marina according to local city officials reporting to Historic City News.
Fuel supplies throughout the marina were temporarily cut off until the source of what was discovered to be an electrical fire could be determined.
When firefighters arrived, they cutoff power to the dock — and the smoke visibly subsided. It was determined that an electrical short was to blame.
No injuries or damage to boats at the marina were reported. Damage to the north dock was minimal and the south dock is fully operational.
City marina employees are working to get the fuel pumps back in operation and until electricity can be restored to the north dock, boats are being powered by generators.
