The Florida Department of Law Enforcement notified Historic City News tonight that the statewide manhunt for two convicted murderers is over. The men used fraudulent documents ordering their release to make good their escapes.
Aided by agents from the US Marshall Service, Charles Walker and Joseph Jenkins, both 34-years-old, were apprehended at Coconut Grove Motor Inn, located at 9725 Front Beach Road in Panama City, at around 6:40 p.m. — without incident.
Walker is serving life without the possibility of parole; convicted of 2nd-degree murder in Orange County. He escaped from Franklin Correctional Institution on October 8, 2013.
Jenkins is serving life without the possibility of parole; convicted of 1st-degree murder in Orange County. He escaped from Franklin Correctional Institution on September 27, 2013.
