Park Rangers and volunteers will bring the history of the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument to life tomorrow evening, according to National Park Service Ranger Joe Brehm; who invited Historic City News readers to participate in this year’s “Holiday Open House” event.
On Saturday, December 14th, guests will enjoy complimentary admission and free parking after 6:00 p.m.; throughout the celebration which will continue until 8:30 p.m.
“Visitors will experience the different eras of the fort’s history — through living history presentations highlighting the soldiers, sailors and marines that served within the Castillo’s walls and in the defense of St Augustine,” Brehm told local news reporters.
The open house event highlights the Castillo’s history from the 16th through the 20th Century; beginning with a three-gun cannon firing at 6:00 p.m. and additional cannon demonstrations will follow at 7:30 p.m. and, the final demonstration, at 8:30 p.m.
