Pastor Alex Hill has invited all Historic City News readers to join in a singing of Christmas carols, a retelling of the Christmas story, and the opportunity for families and friends to connect; all the while enjoying hot chocolate and cookies together during “An Old Fashioned Christmas” Christmas Eve service presented by Journey of Faith Christian Church.
Hill, still meeting with his parish in temporary quarters, explained to Historic City News that Journey of Faith is a recently formed church seeking out ways to grow its membership; physically, spiritually, and to share God’s timeless “love story” in the process.
“Christmas is a magical time of year for us as we enjoy family and friends, relive our favorite memories, and wait for that special gift to arrive,” Pastor Hill told local news reporters. “I am very excited as we prepare for this special service, since it will be our first Christmas together as a church.”
Journey of Faith Christian Church focuses on being a community resource that celebrates generosity — even during a time when the economy has slowed and the newly starting church needs capital. Hill reported that the church has already found ways to support local organizations such as the Aiding Students in Sudden Transition Program, Life Services of St Johns County, and the Betty Griffin House, just to name a few.
“Christmas is about giving,” Pastor Hill’s wife, Beverly, made clear. “I love the way this church finds ways of giving to others.”
“I just love being part of this journey,” reflected Patrick Hartnett; a founding member who travels from Palm Coast just to be part of this family. “I am looking forward to celebrating Christmas with the community.”
The 60-minute Christmas Eve service, “An Old Fashioned Christmas”, will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the Wingate by Wyndham Hotel, located at 2465 SR-16 in St Augustine. For more information, go to www.journeyoffaithcc.org
