Velo Fest director, Heather Neville, is excited to announce to Historic City News readers that the free bike valet will be making an appearance next Monday and Tuesday at the St. Augustine Beach Blast Off.
Not only has the event become a 2-day festival, including a regional chili cook-off and amazing fireworks, they are adding bicycle and pedestrian friendly temporary measures to accommodate the expected turnout of 15,000.
“The City of St. Augustine Beach has rented 500 valet parking spots which will be located between the fire department and arts center; on the south side of the St Augustine Beach Pier parking lot,” Neville explained to local news reporters. “Be sure to look for the big *Canan Law Bike Valet* sign and our veloteers in the blue shirts.”
A1A will be closed to all traffic each day between Pope Road and 16th Street to create a safer space for everyone to enjoy the many activities planned. Riders coming from the north can either walk their bikes to the valet, or take Pope Road to Mickler, then return back to A1A.
All donations to the valet go to either Velo Fest Community Initiative to support safer roads for both cyclists and non-cyclists, or, to the charities that our volunteer groups represent.

Velo Fest Community Initiative, a 501(c)3 charitable non-profit organization, promotes awareness of bicycle safety, healthy lifestyles through cycling activities, environmental enhancements for safe cycling, historical and cultural awareness, and the economic impact that cycling brings communities through tourism and transportation for visitors.
