St Johns County Sheriff’s detectives began an investigation last Thursday morning at 5:45 a.m. after a resident in the 200 block of Honeysuckle Way reported a burglary to his residence and two vehicles, according to a bulletin received by Historic City News from department spokesman, Kevin Kelshaw.
A second vehicle burglary report, from the same neighborhood, was received while officers were investigating the first crime.
As officers were searching the area, they discovered a 2005 Hyundai Accent parked in the opposite direction of traffic. They stopped to investigate further and identified an 18-year-old St Johns County man; passed out inside the vehicle. The subject was awakened and questioned. According to the incident report, he was Adam Robert Bridges, who resides at 220 S. Lombardy Loop, in St Johns.
The deputy detected the odor of burnt cannabis and could see an open container of an alcoholic beverage inside the vehicle. Questioning at the scene led to Bridges’ admission that he had committed numerous burglaries in the area. A search warrant was obtained for the suspect’s vehicle. Detectives located several pieces of drug paraphernalia, a small amount of cannabis, and multiple alcohol beverages.
Bridges was arrested at that time and charged with nine counts of burglary, two counts of grand theft, five counts of petit theft, four counts of criminal mischief, three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and one count each of possession of less than 20 grams of cannabis and possession of alcohol under 21.
