Rainer recognized as Star Employee

Historic City News was informed that Kenneth Rainer, education coordinator at the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve, has been named a “Star Employee” during a reception honoring this year’s recipients in Tallahassee on Tuesday, January 21, 2014.

The annual award reception, held at the R. A. Gray Building, provides recognition for top performing employees of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.

“Your continued focus on the preservation of the state’s environment is making a difference,” Secretary Herschel T. Vinyard, Jr. said.

The award is given to the Department’s highest performers around the state; recognizing staff members that have shown exemplary work and dedication to the agency’s mission of environmental stewardship.

The Florida Coastal Office is responsible for oversight of the state’s 41 Aquatic Preserves, three National Estuarine Research Reserves, the Florida CRCP, and the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. It is the mission of the Florida Coastal Office to conserve and restore Florida’s coastal resources for the benefit of people and the environment.
