Tomorrow morning the members of the St Johns County Commission will hold an emergency meeting to consider a proclamation declaring a local “state of emergency” in certain coastal areas of South Ponte Vedra and Summer Haven, due to coastal storm erosion.
The only item of business for the meeting, Thursday, March 13th, will be to discuss and take any appropriate action related to the severe beach erosion caused by coastal storms.
The area at issue is the coastal areas of South Ponte Vedra Beach and Summer Haven. Before the county can take certain actions or obtain assistance from certain state or federal funds, a “state of emergency” must be formally declared.
Tomorrow’s emergency commission meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m. and convenes in the smaller San Sebastian Conference Room located on the second floor of the County Administration Palace, located at 500 San Sebastian View in St Augustine.
