Historic City News was informed that St Augustine Police have arrested three men involved in an armed robbery that took place in the area of South Whitney and Madeore Streets. The crime occurred a few minutes before midnight yesterday. No injuries were reported during the robbery or subsequent arrest.
Police responded to a call at 11:40 p.m. reporting that the victim had a gun pointed at his head. The victim, an 18-year-old student at First Coast Technical College, was ordered to hand over all his belongings; which included an iPod, wallet with cash, and a wireless phone.
“Sergeant Jason Etheredge spoke with the victim and obtained a description of the three robbers as well as their last known whereabouts,” Public Information Officer Mark Samson reported. “Responding officers were able to use that description to locate the men in the area of Lena and Rodriquez Streets.”
Officers Mike Keegan and Wayne Ferrell assisted in the search for the men involved.
The gun used in the commission of the crime, along with all of the victim’s property, was found on the three men arrested. The victim was able to positively identify each of the men who had robbed him only a short time earlier.
Taken into custody and booked into the St Johns County Detention Facility, charged with robbery and weapons charges, were:
