K-9 training facility breaks ground in Nocatee

The nationally known K9s for Warriors program will formally break ground on a new training facility in Nocatee May 15th, marking a major leap forward in the non-profit organization’s efforts to aid veterans struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries.

To be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday May 15th at the future site of the new facility on Palm Valley Road in Nocatee (directly across from Palm Valley Golf Course), the groundbreaking ceremony will feature remarks by K9s for Warriors founder Shari Duval.

“Currently, we are able to accommodate four veterans per month at its existing three-acre facility in Ponte Vedra Beach,” Shari Duval, President of K9s for Warriors, told local Historic City News reporters. “Veterans participating in the program live on-site for three weeks in a four-bedroom, two-bath home; while they are paired and trained to work with their service dogs.”

Founded in 2011, K9s for Warriors is a not-for-profit organization committed to providing service dogs to wounded warriors suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of military service. Veterans are paired with service dogs to assist them in making the transition back to civilian life.
