Historic City News has learned that a new exhibit in the St. Johns County Rotunda Gallery will present a unique look at Lincolnville as seen by its younger residents.
The opening reception for “A Day in the Life of Lincolnville through the Eyes of Children” will take place on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. in the County Administration building located at 500 San Sebastian View.
The mission of the Cyprian Center of Expressive Arts is to bring art and art programming to the Lincolnville community. The Cyprian Center applied for and received a grant from the Crisp Ellert Fund for this project.
The exhibit will feature 20 photographs and 7 paintings portraying the Lincolnville neighborhood as seen by the area’s children. Noted local photographer, Justin Itnyre gave direction to the budding photographers while local art instructor Corrie Borglund helped them channel their inner Picasso.
The artists range in age from 11 to 16 years old.
The Cyprian Center for Expressive Arts, Songs in Sign Ensemble, a group of youngsters from 6 to 14 years old, will perform at 8:30 a.m. for the August 3rd opening. The program will include: America, What a Wonderful World and You’ve Got a Friend in Me.
The exhibit is available for public viewing weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The exhibit will be on display through October. It is the first all student art exhibit to hang in the Rotunda.
