Tuesday evening, Historic City News readers who are city voters will have an opportunity to meet and learn from candidates for Seat 3 and Seat 4 on the St Augustine City Commission when the Neighborhood Council of St. Augustine, Inc. will host a moderated forum at the Willie Galimore Center.
Candidates participating in the August primary have been invited to attend the Neighborhood Council of St. Augustine, Inc. Candidates Forum on Tuesday, July 15th, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
In reading a facebook event, published Friday, July 11th at 8:20 a.m., Historic City News has learned that some voters in the City of St Augustine have been confused about the “Hob Nob & BBQ at Politics in St Johns” reportedly “Hosted by Joe Boles” at the Solomon Calhoun Center, also Tuesday night. According to the facebook advertisement, “Joe Boles created the event”.
Readers report that they received facebook invitations to the political event, ostensibly from Mayor Boles; however, Government Relations Manager for the Chamber of Commerce, Carol Saviak, confirmed that Politics in St Johns is not hosted by any one candidate. Boles is participating along with 35 or more candidates, Saviak confirmed.
Politics in St Johns is being held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Solomon Calhoun Center and will include candidates for state office, regional and district offices, as well as local county and city elections.
The City Commission forum is being held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Willie Galimore Center and includes candidates for two city commission contests.
The Galimore Center forum will include Todd Neville, Ron Berben, and John Valdes for Seat 4 and Nancy Shaver, Joe Boles, and Ken Bryan, for Mayor.
President of the Neighborhood Council, Rhay Palmer, encourages all readers to take advantage of the opportunity to hear your future leaders.
