Historic City News readers planning on casting an absentee ballot in this year’s Primary Election, will find the encore of a voter service, provided by the elections office, to be a convenient time-saver.

First used in the 2012 General Election, bright red drop-boxes have again been distributed at selected locations around St Johns County for the use of those voters who have received and complete an absentee ballot. Since this service was so well received, it will again be offered at most public libraries, Tax Collectors Offices in Ponte Vedra and Julington Creek and St. Augustine Beach City Hall.

Supervisor of Elections, Vicky Oakes, told Historic City News that 10% of all absentee ballots cast during the 2012 General Election were returned through the drop boxes. The red absentee ballot drop boxes are now available and will be found inside the door of the approved locations. The boxes will be available at all locations until Primary Election Day, August 26th.
