QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE: While in the military: At USAFE HQ, I developed plans for European theater air operations, including base operations, logistics, etc. At RAF Alconbury, UK, I planned and executed the deployment of the entire wing of two fighter squadrons, maintenance support, logistics support to a separate air base for a six-month operation while the runways at our home air base was being resurfaced. At the Pentagon, I was an evaluator and inspector for combined joint force operations in worldwide bare-base deployments of our joint forces (Air Force, Army, USMC, and Navy) with allied international forces. While a County Commissioner, I was the single instrumental force that caused the restructuring of the then titled MPO (now TPO) to separate the organization from Duval County into a super regional transportation organization. I have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the governmental relationships among the city, county, state and federal funding agencies. I was the vice-chair of the MPO in my last year of office.
REASON FOR RUNNING: Use my talents and experience with air base operations to continue the programs instituted by the current airport leadership. We must ensure the airport remains off the tax rolls! We must also make sure the airport supports the community’s needs, such as financial contributions to both commercial and residential operations. The airport needs to promote actions which enhance the financial integrity of our county.
GOALS FOR UPCOMING TERM IF ELECTED: To ensure the long-term financial strength of the airport, ensure it does not ever go back onto the tax rolls, ensure it contributes to the vibrant business community throughout the county and ensure it contributes to a healthier lifestyle for our residents.
