Wrigley Ride, Kick Off, and Velo Fest
Heather Neville
Special to HISTORIC CITY NEWS
Time to catch up and most importantly time to have a kick off for our next year’s fundraising and events!
Price: Sort of Free: A gently used piece of cycle apparel or t-shirt (you know you have a mound of event t-shirts you don’t wear. Don’t use them for dust rags, help someone keep warm and clean this holiday season.) Perhaps you will consider registering for our next event or joining the movement. Frida will have some specials too.
Exciting times coming for 2015!
Come to Frida and experience entertainment, raffles, just for the Velo Fest Community. And who is the Velo Fest Community? EVERYONE! Veloteers old and new (and those of you who don’t even know what that means,) Riders, Neighbors, Business people, retirees, babies, inquiring minds, or just someone happy to be here!
We will entertain our minds thanks to Derek Coghlan (he is amazingly smart, very funny, great to listen to, and he’s not bad to look at either, if you like guys in kilts.) He will put on a show, Pecha Kucha style, at 7:30pm. Maybe you will be hooked and head to the next Pecha Kucha at the Amp on Dec 17!
We will entertain our bodies by signing up for Wrigley Ride (www.wrigleyride.org,) and for doing that between now and the day of the event you will receive the event shirt early! Additionally, just as a huge thank you, sign up between now and December 3 and your registration fee goes towards your fundraising amount of $125 to get our newest jersey!
We will entertain our bellies with delicious food from the new Frida (formerly where Acapulco was) owned by fellow road lover and trigeek, I mean triathlete Asdrubal Nunez
We will entertain our inner veloteer by chatting (briefly, 7:00pm) about the needs of the organization, hoping you or someone you know will get involved. Also we ask that you bring one (or more) gentle used piece of cycling clothing or event shirts. These will be donated to St. Francis House or SAYS depending on size.
We will entertain each other by making our dollars dance bidding on raffle items.
We will entertain our hearts remembering Bryan Bennett Wrigley Memorial Scholarship Fund and others who have been lost on our road, celebrate their lives, and continue the mission of creating a safer St. Augustine, Florida and St. Johns County.
So come one, come all. If you are a business and are interested in learning about sponsorship opportunities please email director@velofest.org. Jersey ordering will take place by November 27, we would love to have you on them.
