AARP Tax Assistance

Thursdays, February 5, 12, 26 @ 10am – 2pmThe AARP Tax-Aide program offers free, one-on-one counseling to help individuals prepare basic tax forms, including the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, and other standard schedules. Counseling is available to all low-to-middle income taxpayers, regardless of age. No advance registration is needed, people will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. Individuals must bring a photo ID, last year’s tax return, and all relevant tax information with them.

Preschool Storytime: Wednesdays @ 11:05amStorytimes run through April 29. Baby & Toddler storytimes are for children up to 18 months of age. Craft time is open to all children and focuses on teaching scissor, glue, and coloring skills. Preschool storytimes are open to any child who can sit for longer stories and participate in active songs, counting and colors in Spanish. Come for songs, stories, and fun. Baby/Spanish storytime consists of lap-sit rhymes, songs, and stories in both English and Spanish. We look forward to seeing you.

Fridays @ 10:15am in the Childrens’ DepartmentJoin us every Friday in December for a fun Spanish/English storytime in the Children’s Department. We will have lapsits for babies, rhymes, stories, music, and more. This storytime is conducted in both English and Spanish and is geared towards children and parents learning Spanish, but all are welcome. Bienveniedos a todos!

Relax with Raindrop Therapy

Dogmanship with Dream Dogz
Saturday, February 7 @ 2pmBe A Pack Leader Dog Walking Club will host a canine education program with special guests, Victoria and Richard Warfel from Dream Dogz Training Center in Gainesville, Florida. They utilize Pressure, Release, and Reward which allows the dog to learn what is being taught and forms a solid bond between dog and owner. Similar to Horsemanship, Dream Dogz puts the dog first, then the person, and works together towards a common goal which they call Dogmanship. St. Johns Reads Event: Finding Henry Flagler
Tuesday, February 17 @ 2pmHenry Morrison Flagler had a major impact on St. Augustine. In fact, there are many physical manifestations of Flagler and the Florida East Coast Railway still in existence. This talk will present the resources of the St. Augustine Historical Society’s Research Library by examining pictures, maps, books, and other documentation of the Florida East Coast Railway and Henry Flagler’s personal life. This engaging seminar is offered by Bob Nawrocki, Chief Librarian of the St. Augustine Historical Research Library.

St. Johns County Reads: Florida Fixins for Fancy Folks
Thursday, February 19 @ 2pmTravel back to the 1920s and 30s, to enjoy a sampling of cuisine inspired by a Florida East Coast Railway dining car menu. Dining aboard the Florida East Coast Railway was lush and renowned. Dining cars were of the latest design with attractive finishes and were manned by experienced stewards, chefs, and waiters. Kitchens were equipped with up-to-date appliances for the preparation and serving of meals. Dining car menus showed a wide variety from which to make a selection, and delicious foods, including the famous citrus fruits of Florida. This free culinary event is sponsored by the Friends of the Anastasia Island Branch Library.

Flagler’s quest to transform the nation’s Oldest City into a highly desirable vacation destination for the rich, eventually expanding his coastal empire to encompass Palm Beach, Miami, Key West, and, finally, Nassau. Animal Training with The Science of Behavior
