Southeast Branch Library in February
All libraries will be closed on Monday, February 16th in honor of President’s Day. No items will be due this day and we will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, February 17th.

AARP Tax Assistance
Tuesdays, February 3, 10, 17 & 24 from 10am to 2pm
Thursdays, February 5, 19 & 26 from 10am to 2pm
Fridays, February 6, 13, 20 & 27 from 10am to 2pm
The AARP Tax-Aide program offers free, one-on-one counseling to help individuals prepare basic tax forms, including the 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, and other standard schedules. Counseling is available to all low-to-middle income taxpayers, regardless of age. No advance registration is needed, people will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Individuals must bring a photo ID, last year’s tax return, and all relevant tax information with them.
Restore and Flow Yoga
Monday, February 2, 9, and 23 @ 12:30pm
Are you interested in an activity that connects the mind and body? Yoga instructor, Kim McWilliams, guides participants through yoga today at 12:30pm and all are welcome to join. Her classical yoga style focuses on proper alignment and core strength, with a focus on safety. We encourage you to bring your own water and yoga mat or towel to use during this free one-hour class.

Join Miss Alex & Miss Akilah for a fun, musical lapsit program with songs, stories, fingerplays, and parachute games for babies and toddlers. This season, we’re learning the alphabet! All little ones are welcome.

Yoga is a great way to increase flexibility, lower stress, and improve energy. Learn to relax your mind and body with some simple, kid-friendly stretches and exercises. This program is for beginners and fun for the whole family. Please wear loose clothing and bring your own towel or mat. Teens are welcome, too.

“Shake it Up” with Miss Alex and Miss Akilah during a fun-filled hour of stories, songs, and crafts for families with toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary-aged kids.
Knotty Knitters
Fridays in February @ 3pm
Everyone is welcome to join the Southeast Branch’s knitting club… The Knotty Knitters. All ages and abilities are encouraged to join and instruction can be provided to beginners. Make new friends and learn a new craft.
Teen Anime Club

Love anime or manga? Find like-minded people at our BRAND NEW ANIME CLUB. Chill out, make friends, and watch some awesome anime. For the movie title, call the library at 827-6900. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

Stop in for our brand new “Pop-In Storytime” hosted by the National Honor Society of Pedro Menendez High School! Come by between 11am and 12pm for fun stories with local teens. This program will take place the first Saturday of every month that school is in session.
St. Johns Reads Event: Mr. Flagler’s St. Augustine

Thomas Graham, professor emeritus of history at Flagler College, will discuss his latest book, Mr. Flagler’s St. Augustine. This work traces oil magnate Henry M. Flagler’s quest to transform the nation’s Oldest City into a highly desirable vacation destination for the rich. Join us as Graham brings fascinating details of the Gilded Age to life. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

St. Johns Reads Event: End of the Line Genealogy

The 1935 Labor Day hurricane destroyed an automobile highway being built by Bonus Army vets alongside the path originally blazed by Henry Flagler. Over 200 WWI vets on the project were killed. Join us as we examine evidence left by some of these veterans and learn how you can use similar records to research your ancestors from this time period. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.

Art for Tots

Come into our Art Lab for projects perfectly designed for little hands, accompanied by a story. Art history can be explored at any age–this month, we’ll be learning about the artist Claude Monet. This program is designed for toddlers and little ones and sponsored by the State of the Arts grant from the St. Johns Cultural Council.

St. Johns Reads Event: The Three Mrs. Flaglers

Diane Jacoby performs a riveting, three-act portrayal of three distinctively captivating women who won the heart of Henry Flagler. As a third generation Floridian, Jacoby brings an insider’s view as her grandfather was chosen for the honor of driving the first train across the newly completed Overseas Railway from Miami to Key West in 1912. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Southeast Branch Library.
