A team of criminals burglarized two St Johns County businesses last night, according to a report filed with Historic City News, and the Sheriff’s Office needs your help uncovering the identities of those involved.
A stolen box truck, a BMW sedan, and at least four thieves were spotted on surveillance video, all part of the illegal criminal activity.
“Employees discovered the break-ins this morning when they arrived to work at 8:00 a.m.,” spokesman Kevin Kelshaw told Historic City News local reporters. “A dental office and liquor store in the 900 block of SR-16 were burglarized and hundreds of dollars in high-end liquor and cigarettes were stolen.”
According to the incident report released today, early this morning, a large Isuzu box truck was stolen from a furniture store in St. Augustine. It was backed up to the rear of the businesses. The furniture, still inside the truck, was unloaded and the stolen property from the burglary quickly took its place.
One of the occupants of the BMW, gained rooftop access to the dental office. Once inside, the thief cut holes in the wall in order to gain access to the wiring of the burglar alarm in the liquor store next door. With the alarm disabled, entrance to the liquor store was gained through the ceiling.
In addition to the merchandise stolen, the burglars also stole the surveillance camera system inside the liquor store.
The BMW has tinted windows and a sunroof. The box truck may be missing a chrome hubcap and was entered as stolen by the St. Augustine Police Department.
