Bill Lazar announced to local Historic City News reporters in St Augustine, that 73-year-old resident, Dave Roberson, was assisted with improvements to his Avenue D home provided by the St. Johns Housing Partnership and the Bonner Scholar group of Lindsey Wilson College.
The Bonner Scholar group is nationally recognized and is a community outreach organization through the Kentucky College.
“Each year during spring break nine to ten students from the organization visit St. Johns County.” Lazar told Historic City News. “They donate their efforts and time to improve the living conditions for aging individuals.”
Roberson became a candidate for this year’s project after he contacted St. Johns Housing Partnership and received weatherization services through the SHIP program.
In their fifth year in our community, the students spent time painting and cleaning the outside of Roberson’s home where he has spent a majority of his life.
Contact Lazar at the St. Johns Housing Partnership for more information about local programs that are available.
