Starting on Monday, April 13th, St. Augustine city officials have informed Historic City News that ongoing exterior work on City Hall will require the temporary removal of parking on the west side of the building.
The closures will include metered spaces, motorcoach parking, loading zones and the stop for the Sunshine Bus Company along Granada Street. An alternative bus stop is planned to serve the riders of the Sunshine Bus.
The work will require equipment to be positioned in the driving lane, thus the parking areas will be eliminated to allow traffic to continue to use the street.
The work is expected to last approximately three weeks.
Portions of King St. and Avenida Menendez are scheduled for resurfacing starting Sunday night, April 12th and continuing each evening through Wednesday morning, April 15th.
The overnight work will commence each evening at 7:00 p.m. and conclude the following morning at 6:00 a.m.
Sections being resurfaced include King Street; east of Cordova Street to Avenida Menendez, as well as the northbound lane of Avenida Menendez; from the Bridge of Lions to Cuna Street at the entrance to the Castillo de San Marcos parking area.
Parking will not be allowed in the area of the project between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. each night until the project is completed.
Signs will be posted. The roads will remain open and St. Augustine Police will manage traffic. Drivers should expect intermittent delays because of the project.
King Street and Avenida Menendez are state highways. The work, conducted by Duval Asphalt, is a project of the Florida Department of Transportation.
