The 20th Annual Gamble Rogers Music Festival will feature six stages this weekend, May 2-3, bringing dozens of celebrated artists to the Ancient City during this celebration of the late Gamble Rogers.
Rogers, a local recording artist and storyteller, died in 1991 while trying to save a man from drowning in the ocean, near the spot in Flagler County of the State Recreation Area which bears his name.
Two-day tickets for May 2-3 are $35; tickets for May 2 are $25; and May 3 tickets are $15, according to an announcement released to the media today.
Folk trio Harpeth Rising will be one of the acts performing from 7:25 p.m. to 8:05 p.m. Saturday, May 2nd on the main stage at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, 1340 A1A South, St. Augustine. The trio is from Louisville, Kentucky. They bring a combined bluegrass and folk sound to their performance.
Members of Harpeth Rising are Jordana Greenberg (violin), Rebecca Reed-Lunn (banjo), and Maria Di Meglio (cello). The group’s harmonies run the gamut from traditional Bluegrass to full on Gregorian organum. The members met while earning performance degrees at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and despite their diverse beginnings (hailing from vastly different cultures and geographic areas), found in each other a unified musical idea and a brand new one at that.
Tickets can be purchased at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre and the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, or at Music Matters, Simple Gestures and The Bead Chick, or online at gamblerogersfest.org. Contributed photograph.
