Visit Field of Crosses through June 5

Helping Hands of Saint Johns County has finalized the work for “Fallen Heroes Military Tribute”; a traveling memorial that opened Sunday, May 24 at Faith Community Church.
The Field of Crosses, which is on display from dawn to dusk at 3450 CR-210, represents the nearly 400 men and women from Florida who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Each cross and featured placement of a wreath includes a photo, name, age, rank, branch of service, Florida hometown, date of death and the war in which they served.
Larger crosses are dedicated to the heroes of all wars.
Taps will be played nightly at 7:00 p.m. through June 5th.0
The opening ceremony took place Sunday at 3:00 p.m. with remarks by Army Col. William Frost Roberts (ret.), Marine Sgt. Herbert Shaw (ret.), Navy Capt. David Mathias (ret.) and Air Force Lt. Gen. Ed Tenoso (ret.).
