The City of St Augustine Public Works Department informed local Historic City News reporters that they will begin annual flow and pressure testing of fire hydrants next week.
The days of work and areas being serviced are:
- Monday-Wednesday, June 1-3: areas east and west of Masters Dr., including Vista Cove.
- Thursday, June 4: areas along Lewis Speedway and Woodlawn Rd.
- Monday-Tuesday, June 8-9: areas east of US 1 in the vicinity of Madeira.
- Wednesday-Thursday, June 10-11: area east of US 1 in the vicinity of Poinciana Ave, Colon Ave. and Bella Vista.
Work will be performed between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Signs will be posted in the affected area prior to the work being performed.
During the testing, customers may notice reduced water pressure and possibly discolored water. While the water will be safe, it is recommended that cold water faucets be run for five to ten minutes if discoloration of water is noticed.
This should result in the water running clear.
Please check water quality prior to running laundry. If the discolored water does not clear up after running, please call 904.825.1040.
