Flagler County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Debra Johnson and St. Johns County Sheriff’s Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw told local reporters with Historic City News that KinderVision’s “The Greatest Save” Celebrity Golf Benefit and Banquet will be held on the weekend of September 25, 26, and 27 in Palm Coast, at the Hammock Beach Resort.
The KinderVision Foundation is a nonprofit national personal safety education and crime prevention program that started over twenty years ago as the result of the abduction and murder of a seven year old little girl.
Since then, their goal has been to provide education that empowers children of all ages to recognize when they are at risk and respond appropriately to prevent abduction, molestation, and exploitation. “The Greatest Save” Weekend with the Saturday youth baseball clinic, the KinderVision Celebrity Banquet on Sunday and the KV Celebrity Pro-Am on Monday all done in partnership with Major League Baseball alumni raises funds to provide that education .
“The Greatest Save” weekend begins with a free baseball clinic and KinderVision safety program on Saturday afternoon from 1 to 4 pm at Indian Trails Sports Complex in Palm Coast for all area youth ages 8 and up. The clinic is coached by retired MLB players and is a wonderful opportunity for kids to learn baseball from the pros and safety education from KinderVision. Participation is free but registration is required. Each youngster is permitted to bring one item to be autographed.
Sunday evening at 6:00 pm is the KinderVision Celebrity Banquet and Silent Auction at Hammock Beach Resort hosted by Hall of Fame Member Rollie Fingers and features a Q&A with Rollie, Jim Palmer and Ferguson Jenkins, MLB Hall of Fame members telling their stories with more than thirty other retired MLB players in attendance. Flagler County Sheriff Don Fleming will be receiving The Greatest Save Law Enforcement Award and Buddy Taylor Middle School and Matanzas HS will be recognized for their KinderVision peer to peer and community safety efforts.
Monday at 8:00 am is registration for the KinderVision Celebrity Pro-Am golf tournament at the Ocean Course in Hammock Beach followed by an awards luncheon at the resort. Each foursome will have a celebrity in it, which makes the day memorable regardless of the score. The amateurs will do a shamble format and the pros will play their own ball for a purse.
