Sallie O’Hara, Byway Program Administrator, reported to Historic City News that the first “A1A Golf Cup Classic” will be held on September 19, 2010 at Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club.
The A1A Cell Phone Audio Tour will be among the many projects highlighted during this event. The mission of Friends of A1A is to protect, promote and enhance the A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway.
Friends of A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway are hosting the golf tournament to raise funds to continue their mission to preserve, protect, promote and enhance the A1A Scenic and Historic Coastal Byway.
On hand during the day will be:
PGA Professional and Certified Instructor, Ciaran Monaghan
Jaguar Cheerleaders, LaFarrah and Chelsea
Pirate magician William Mayhem
many local dignitaries
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10:00 a.m.
Major sponsors of the event include Jack Wilson Chevrolet providing many “hole in one” prizes and Helm Financial Services.
More than 50 local Byway businesses are providing prizes and support.
Contests available include putting, longest drives, closest to the pin and straightest drive.
Buffet lunch begins at 2:00 p.m. and awards ceremony begins at 3:00 p.m.
