Professional office building dedication today

Cindy K. Hollingsworth reported to local Historic City News reporters that earlier today, the St. Augustine – St. Johns County Airport Authority conducted its Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for its recently completed South Development Area – Phase II at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport.

The newly commissioned complex features a 15,000 square foot Professional Office Building and Conference Center, a 15,000 square foot Aircraft Maintenance Facility and the first of several sections of “The Airport Park at Indian Creek Preserve” which when complete will provide exercise, environmental and aviation education opportunities for the community.

The $4 million project was jointly funded by the State of Florida Department of Transportation and the Airport Authority.

With the exception of the park development, the project is self-supporting with revenues derived from the lease of associated office and hangar space.

All aspects of the project were developed to be a “green friendly and sustainable as possible” say Kelly Barrera, Chairman of the Airport Authority. “We wanted to complement the Environmental Award Winning first phase that featured over 50 new aircraft hangars nestled in the original old growth tree stand of the area as envisioned by my fellow Board Member, Jack Gorman,” she went on to say.

In excess of 100 local dignitaries and guests were on hand to assist the Authority in opening the new facilities.
