Historic City News readers are invited to contribute their ideas to the development of St Augustine’s Historic Preservation Master Plan, by completing a brief online survey before January 15th.
The 17 questions, some multiple choice and some short answer, allow every member of the community to offer views on both the current status and future plans for historic preservation in St. Augustine.
“We want the city’s Historic Preservation Master Plan to be a well thought out, comprehensive guide for the future of historic preservation in the community,” the city’s mayor, Nancy Shaver, told local Historic City News reporters. “Historic preservation affects nearly everyone who lives or works in St Augustine whether they rent property or own.”
In order for the Planning and Building Department to accurately gauge local resident’s degree of commitment to maintain the integrity of the city’s historic landmarks, streetscapes, and important artifacts, they need to hear from you and your business.
Preservation initiatives include the city’s model archeological ordinances, strict guidelines on what is permissible in the city’s historic preservation districts, and the continual work of the Historic Architectural Review Board. Shareholders include individuals and businesses, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and houses of worship.
