Accused child pornography distributor arrested

Public Information Officer Debra Johnson told local St. Johns County reporters with Historic City News that a 46-year-old Flagler Beach man was arrested early Friday morning on 20 counts of child pornography.

After Flagler County Sheriff’s detectives served a search warrant, investigators arrested Bert K. Knight at his residence at 209B South 6th Street shortly after 6:00 a.m. He is formally charged with 20 counts of possession of child pornography with the intent to distribute.

Investigators said the search warrant was obtained after images of child pornography were intercepted by law enforcement officers through file sharing activities on the Internet. Investigators said the images were coming from a computer inside the home where Knight lived alone.

“People who view child porn are dangerous people who need to be removed from any community. I am glad we have identified and removed this one. Child porn is a hazardous byproduct of the Internet that needs to be eliminated immediately,” said Flagler County Sheriff Donald W. Fleming.

Knight was being held in the Flagler County Inmate Facility Monday afternoon in lieu of $500,000 bail.
