Trump hires local political professional for northeast Florida campaign

BlakPac President George Farrell in St Petersburg applauded Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump for his move to offer key campaign positions to Black-American advisors and volunteers, as well as offering employment to campaign staff at decision making levels.

One political professional added to Trump’s Florida campaign, is St Johns County resident Derek Boyd Hankerson; a regular contributor to Historic City News.

“BlakPac has been working for months to have Blacks hired in key policy making positions in the campaigns of Republican Presidential candidates,” Farrell said in his announcement. “It is unfortunate that only Donald Trump and Ben Carson have paid Black staff in this state, but it is abominable that neither Hillary Clinton nor Senator Bernie Sanders have a single paid Black staffer, since their victories really depend on the Black vote in the Primary and General Election.”

In the crucial winner-take-all Florida Primary Election, there are 56,000 Black Republican voters at stake.

Trump has hired Hankerson as his Northeast Florida Regional Director responsible for several key counties, including Duval, considered a “must win” area for statewide Republican candidates.

“In northeast Florida, I have identified over 5,000 registered Black Republicans eligible to vote in the Primary Election,” Hankerson told Historic City News.
