City Water to Undergo Adjustment

Posted on 10/02/200810/03/2008 By Historic City News

Public Works
For a period of 30 days beginning on Thursday, October 9th, the City of St. Augustine will be adjusting the chlorine and ammonia levels which may slightly change the taste of city water according to an announcement received by Historic City News this morning.

The Water Treatment Plant will treat City water using a free chlorine residual instead of a chloramine residual.

Chlorine and ammonia are used in the water treatment process to maintain disinfection of the water. Adjustment of the chlorine and ammonia levels for pipeline maintenance purposes is a standard operating practice recommended by the American Water Works Association.

For additional information, you may contact the City of St. Augustine Water Treatment Plant at (904) 825-1044.
