Obituary: Debra Green Hoefer
This morning friends and family gathered at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel of Craig Funeral Home to remember and say goodbye to Debra Green Hoefer of St. Augustine.
Debbie was 60-years-old, born December 15, 1955, and past on Saturday, November 12, 2016. She leaves behind her father and mother, Fred and Shirley Green of Summer Haven, her brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Jaimie Green of St Augustine, and her daughter, Keri Green Bomarito (formerly Hoefer).
She graduated from St. Augustine High School in the Class of 1973, and attended Daytona Beach Community College for fashion design. After moving to New York, she opened a clothing store and later worked for the Port of Oswego. She moved back to St. Augustine in 1993 and worked for the City of St. Augustine.
At the age of 48, she achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. Debra graduated from Flagler College with a Bachelor in Elementary Education and specialty training in Visual Impairment, ESOL, and Exceptional Student Education.
At the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, she passionately guided her students down the path to success and taught them to reach for their dreams.
For the last 11 years, she has enjoyed teaching at R.B. Hunt Elementary, where she was a mentor to all.
Debbie loved to travel and spend time with her daughter and family and friends. Just one of the many things she will always be remembered for is that she saw the best parts of each of our hearts.
The family asked that donations in her memory be made for homeless children in St. Johns County at homelesscoalitionstjohns.com. Craig Funeral Home Crematory Memorial Park, craigfuneralhome.com, was in charge of the arrangements.
