Public Information Officer Jeremy Robshaw invited Historic City News readers to join St. Johns County Fire-Rescue and “Firefighters for Families” for their annual Community Day on Saturday, October 9th at Station 10 from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
This free and informative event will be packed full of fun for all ages, with “Patches” the fire fighting robot, a fire safety house simulator, Law Enforcement dog demonstrations, a bounce house, a ladder truck and complimentary hot dogs and refreshments.
New to this year’s event will be multiple free “hands only” CPR classes taught by local instructors. These classes follow American Heart Association curriculum are brief and offer a basic overview of CPR skills for the layperson. This class does teach basic CPR skills, but does not issue any certification. The classes will be offered at several announced intervals throughout the event.
“Home Fires claim thousands of lives every year. By using a little extra caution, you can help to safeguard your family,” said Robshaw. “We hope that you will come out and enjoy our Community Day and also learn tips to keep your family safe.”
The Community Day will be held on Saturday, October 9th at Station 10 which is located at 155 Library Blvd, next to the Ponte Vedra library. The event is free and Firefighters for Families will be conducting a food drive. Please bring a donation of non-perishable foods to the station to help the families.
