Karen Pan reported to Historic City News that Phase II renovations of the Richard O. Watson Judicial Center in St. Johns County are nearing completion.
This final phase of construction will bring to a close the 36-month renovation of the old administration building and courthouse; turning the entire complex into a fully functional judicial center.
St. Johns County Administrator Michael D. Wanchick said, “The project remains within budget.”
The new south entrance is open and the two remaining courtrooms and judges offices are nearly finished.
Completion of these two portions along with the security system will complete the entire renovation — expected by December.
All judicial functions will be housed in the renovated center including courtrooms, Clerk of the Court, Guardian Ad Litem, Public Defender and the State’s Attorney.
