The St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum will take on a special holiday glow when its traditional Luminary Night returns on Wednesday, December 3rd according to an announcement received by Historic City News this week.
Admission is free on this special evening when visitors can enjoy thousands of luminaries decorating the grounds of the historic light station. Plus, a climb to the top of the tower will provide a spectacular view of the luminaries below and the magnificent Nights of Lights twinkling across Matanzas Bay in old St. Augustine.
In addition to the charming holiday atmosphere created by the luminaries, the lighthouse will also offer great entertainment and visits with Santa.
The fun begins at 6 p.m. with performances by the First Coast Harp Ensemble, Showtime USA, the St. Augustine High School Classical Guitar Ensemble and the Nease High School Chorus. Children will be able to share their Christmas lists with Santa from 6-9 p.m. and holiday refreshments will be available. The museum’s store offering unique nautical gifts will also be open to shoppers throughout the evening.
For safety reasons, children must be at least 44 inches tall to climb the tower and an adult must accompany children under the age of 12. For more information on events, activities and special tours of the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Museum call 904.829.0745.
