Thomas F. Reynolds, Jr.
St Augustine Beach, FL
On September 24, I made the decision to withdraw from the contest for City Commissioner in the City of St Augustine Beach. I came to my decision not to challenge Mayor Undine George on my own, realizing that my choice would hand over Seat 3 to her for the next four-years.
Many of you know my passion for good government. You have probably seen me on government television when I have spoken at St Johns County commission meetings, or meetings of the St Augustine or St Augustine Beach city commissions.
I want to continue to be a good, active and engaged citizen of this community, so I have no reason to believe I will stop participating when opportunities present themselves, if I am available.
I have lived at the beach for several years now and I watch our city staff and elected officials very closely. I am considering the purchase of a new home nearby; however, it is not inside the city limits of St Augustine Beach and I would have to resign to move in if I was your commissioner. So, at least at this time, the needs of my boys and our family would prevent me from giving you 110% in this role, which I am sure I would try to do.
I have not given up on public service and I have declared myself a candidate for St Johns County Sheriff in 2020. I will attend the required police academy training next year and prepare myself to qualify for this office. Thank you for your support now, and I hope I can count on your support then.
