Historic City News readers are patriotically invited to attend the next regular meeting of the Saint Augustine Tea Party being held on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 6:30 p.m., in the meeting room of the Village Inn located at 900 North Ponce de Leon Boulevard, in St. Augustine. Please plan to attend.
Our special guest will be Tuesday evening will be Nancy Sikes-Kline. The commissioner has served on the St Augustine City Commission since 2008. In the November 6th General Election, she retained her seat on the City Commission for another 4-year term; receiving 65.63 percent of the vote cast. She was opposed by Tea Party member Chris Ellis.
Her busy schedule includes serving on the Board of Directors of the North Florida Transportation Planning Organization; the University of Florida, College of Design Construction and Planning, Department of Historic Preservation; St. Augustine and St. Johns County Visitors and Convention Bureau as well as the City’s voting delegate to the Florida League of Cities.
- Commissioner Sikes-Klein will discuss the city’s Historic Preservation Master Plan and building the city’s defenses to flooding and other threats. She will also be addressing the contextualization of the cenotaph honoring St Augustine veterans of the American Civil War; erected by the Ladies Memorial Association of St Augustine in the Plaza de la Constitution.
This and other important issues in St. Augustine will be discussed. Question and answer session to follow, time permitting. There is no admission charge and you do not need to be a member of the Saint Augustine Tea Party to attend and participate.
