Nick McAuliffe reported to Historic City News today that the St. Augustine Archaeological Association will host an unveiling ceremony for a historic marker commemorating the remains of the central portion of the Native American La Punta Mission.
As part of St. Augustine Archaeological Association’s commitment to preservation of the mission, the Association developed and funded a historic marker which is being installed this Friday morning just outside the entrance to the Bonita Bay development on Tremerton Street (off lower Marine Street).
Monday, December 15th at 1:30 p.m., St. Augustine Archaeological Association is hosting a short unveiling ceremony and want to invite our members, residents of Bonita Bay, and representatives of the City of St. Augustine (these are the three parties who entered into the conservation easement agreement that protects the site) and other interested community members.
PARKING NOTE: Parking spaces will be scarce on Tremerton Street, so we’d suggest using the northern edge of the Council on Aging lot on Marine Street during the ceremony.
