First Lincolnville Community Garden meeting

Cash McVay reported to Historic City News that over 50 neighbors turned out for the first Lincolnville Community Garden neighborhood meeting, held this past Tuesday night at the Willie Galimore Center.

“It was truly inspiring to see the excitement from our community” says Cash S. McVay.

McVay reported that, to date, over 30 neighbors have signed up for garden plots & over 70 neighbors have signed up to volunteer. To all who could come to the meeting, we thank you !!!

Also, McVay gave special thanks to City Commissioner Nancy Sikes-Kline, Bill Hamilton with Southern Horticulture Nursery & Richard Villadoniga with the Slow Foods Network for also attending the meeting.

Currently we are on hold, waiting for the City to provide a draft lease that
will allow our neighborhood to operate a garden within a designated area at
Eddie Vickers Park. Once the lease is finalized, we will be placed on the
City Commission agenda to hopefully secure approval for the garden.
