St. Johns County Sheriff David B. Shoar informed local crime reporters at Historic City News that his deputies have made three arrests in connection with at least one car burglary in the Venetian Boulevard area.
The three suspects, identified as 26 year-old Donald Edward Stables III, who resides at 115 Ronald Rd., Lot 6; 18 year-old Taylor Scott Armondi, who resides at 115 Ronald Rd., Lot 12 and 20 year-old Daren Mitchell Mixon Jr., who resides at 115 Ronald Rd., Lot 6, were charged with burglary to a conveyance and were booked into the County Jail in lieu of $2,500 appearance bond, each.
According to media relations officer Kevin Kelshaw, the three men may be charged with additional crimes as the Property Crimes Unit continues its investigation.
A 1996Toyota, registered to a subject who resides in the 100 block of Ronald Road, was located in the parking lot of the British Pub; a short distance away from a Venetian Boulevard address where deputies responded to a report of a suspicious incident.
The three subjects were sitting in front of the residence when deputies arrived at about 4:30 a.m.
When questioned about the Toyota, the three gave conflicting stories. According to reports, the men admitted to several overnight car burglaries in the area and led officers to a wooded area off Palmetto Drive where a backpack was recovered.
Kelshaw told Historic City News that the Sheriff’s Office is waiting for victims to report items found in the backpack that they suspect have been stolen.
The three men are suspected in a car burglary that occurred in the 6300 block of Old Dixie Drive, and may have been involved in entering vehicles in the 200 block of Venetian Boulevard, two in the 6500 block of Pine Circle North and three in the 200 block of Palmetto Drive.
