Multiple Emmy Award winning producer and director S. Bryan Hickox will be the keynote speaker when Flagler College’s Communication Department sponsors its fourth annual Communication Week entitled “‘Shaping Your Future” according to a news release received by Historic City News this week.
Hickox, a veteran in the television and film industry, will be speaking in the Ringhaver Center’s Gamache-Koger Theater on March 9 at 2 p.m. and will kick-off the event that concludes on Thursday evening, March 12.
Assistant professor of communication Rosemary Tutt and Flagler’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America have invited Hickox to spotlight the department’s recently added Cinema and Media Studies track.
“Mr. Hickox can provide the Hollywood side of productions and also tell us what’s going on in movie-making in our own state of Florida,” said Tracy Halcomb, Ph.D, Chair of Flagler’s Communication Department.
Hickox, a Jacksonville resident, has been nominated 16 times and won seven national Emmy Awards, 200 plus national, international and television festival awards and the prestigious Florida Motion Picture and Television Association Lifetime Achievement Award.
Hickox’s story began over 50 years ago when he decided that he didn’t want to work for the entertainment service industry but rather be one of its biggest customers.
In 1970 and 1976, Hickox founded Image Transform Inc. and Milestone Productions, both video production facilities and one of the first fully computerized off-line video postproduction facilities in the U.S.
He also founded two production companies, Hickox/Daniel Productions and Bryan Hickox Productions Inc. which produced 24 movies for television, five network series, over a dozen pilots, and more than 160 hours of syndicated programming.
Hickox’s repertoire includes movies for television, specials, pilots, music videos, after school specials, feature films and live events. And he has the awards to show for all his hard work. Hickox/Daniel Productions won CBS-TV’s highest rating in the networks history, three Emmys, a Writers Guild Award, an International “CINE” Golden Eagle Award and New York’s Film and Television festival first place.
