Mary K. Herron, Director of Development at the Florida Agricultural Museum, reported to Historic City News that Derek Hankerson, a local historian and educator, will be discussing the role of black soldiers during the Civil War.
The special program, “Civil War to Civil Rights”, will be given at noon on Saturday, February 5th, in the Caldwell Dairy Barn.
This presentation is free and open to the public. Hankerson will present how service in federal militias led black soldiers to property and civil rights for those veterans and their families.
Attendees are welcome to tour the Museum, before and after the program, at the regular rate of $6 for adults, $4 for children.
The Florida Agricultural Museum is located on the corner of US-1 and Old Kings Road in northeast Flagler County at 7900 Old Kings Road, Palm Coast.
