I understand the original purpose of requiring public disclosure of your finances as a qualification to being an advisory board member, but think that it may no longer be relevant.
Many who are qualified in all the other expertise and who are dedicated to the well-being of the county and its residents, don’t apply simply because they don’t want to air their linen for all the public to view.
Applying the same conflict declaration rules that apply to elected officials is all that is needed in this modern age of computers and the internet.
Cato, locks only keep honest people out.
An honest appointee would certainly declare the conflct as you have suggested.
It’s the dis-honest ones that I’m worried about. Without a financial disclosure, it will be more difficult to catch the one’s with other ideas.
