Detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Unit are investigating a burglary that occurred at the Agricultural Center, according to an incident report filed by the center’s director, David Dinkins, early Friday morning.
Stolen was nearly $30,000.00 worth of county owned agricultural equipment including a John Deere tractor; itself worth over $27,000.00.
The burglary was discovered when a maintenance worker went to the shed and found the door pried open. When the worker walked inside the building, he noticed the John Deere tractor was missing along with a number of lawn care tools.
Deputy Debra Maynard reported that upon her arrival, it was extremely foggy and the visibility was approximately 50 feet. Surveillance cameras are installed at the Ag Center site, but it is unknown if any video was recovered. Evidence Technicians were called to process the scene.
