The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office – Violent Crimes Unit is investigating a home invasion robbery that occurred shortly after 9:00 last night at a North 7th Street trailer park.
The victim and five witnesses were interviewed at the scene; reporting to Deputy Allen Lapkovitch that when one of them knocked and entered through the front door, they were followed immediately into the trailer by the unknown intruder.
According to the incident report filed last night, the suspect, a black male dressed in a ski mask, black hooded sweat shirt and black pants, made his way into the trailer and demanded money from the victim.
The suspect was carrying a black shotgun with a pistol grip. During the robbery, he displayed a small dark pistol that had been concealed in his waist band.
The suspect struck the victim with the shotgun and made off with a total of about $350.00 in cash; escaping through the back door of the trailer.
K-9 Deputy Gazdick aided by Deputy Alli arrived and tracked the suspect through the woods into the area of Heritage Park. Evidence technicians arrived on the scene and recovered evidence for further processing.
