St. Johns County Council on Aging reported that during the night last night, two COA vehicles were burglarized while parked at 1965 A1A South. The vehicles were secured at approximately 6:00 p.m. last night and were discovered to have been burglarized this morning at about 7:00 a.m.
Each vehicle had its rear window smashed and one of the vehicles was missing a fire extinguisher and a JVC AM/FM Stereo CD player valued at over $500.00. No estimates were reported to repair the damaged windows.
According to Deputy George Taylor’s report, both vehicles were backed into their parking space which puts the rear of the vehicles next to a wooded area. Although the parking lot is well lit, the rear of the vehicles can not be seen by driving through the parking area.
