Be careful when paying by credit card in restaurants — without getting a final receipt.
The manager of IHOP at 2560 State Road 16 reported to Deputy Sheriff James Hayward that he received an Email from the main office stating that a customer had complained about an extra dollar being placed on their credit card bill.
On checking further, the manager of the local IHOP advised that he discovered that there were 34 other credit card transactions totaling $45 which did not match what was on the original receipts when they were put into the computer.
The manager advised that all of the transactions were entered into the computer by a former employee who had been terminated for taking money from the company.
There was no way for the restaurant manager to contact the other potentially affected customers since the only information available to them was the credit card number.
