Historic City News received the following notification this afternoon from Kevin Kelshaw, SJSO Media Relations Officer.
In accordance with Florida State Statute 775.21, this news release will serve as public notification that the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office has been given information that a person judged to be a sexual predator is now residing within St. Johns County.
The name of the sexual predator is James Lee Lyons. He is living at 4750 Harold St., Hastings. Lyons is described as a white male, 48 years old, 5’ 7” tall, 140 pounds, he has black hair and blue eyes.
Lyons was convicted on charges of attempted sexual battery on a child and sexual act with a child while in a familiar role in 1998.
The incident occurred in January 1997 in St. Johns County and, following a plea agreement, Lyons received a sentence of over 13 years in state prison.
Lyons was released from prison on December 29, 2008, and he is registered as a Sexual Predator.
